The KNVB Association Board has asked Gijs de Jong to take over the duties of current association Secretary-General Bert van Oostveen on a temporary basis. De Jong will combine these duties with his position of director of operations for professional football.
Van Oostveen will stand down as KNVB secretary-general as per 1 September this year. The Association Board will not name a new secretary-general before a new director for professional football has been appointed.
The KNVB secretary-general is responsible for the international representation of the KNVB within FIFA and UEFA. In addition, the portfolio includes active involvement in the organisation of international tournaments such as UEFA EURO 2020, which will be hosted by 13 European countries, including the Netherlands.
