The KNVB operates internationally and wants to help develop football. We do this in a wide variety of areas: Through our well-known World Coaches programme, through which we train local football coaches worldwide. But of course we also contribute administratively in international committees. And we visit our football colleagues all over the world or receive them in Zeist. We work together, seek connections and we help where needed. We do all this with one goal: to help develop and improve football worldwide, for the future of our football.
On this site, the KNVB periodically shares information about its international activities.
In late 2024, a unique WorldCoaches course was organised in Cairo, Egypt. 30 coaches from five different countries came together for the culmination of WorldCoaches training. These coaches had spent the previous two years going through the full WorldCoaches training pyramid in their home countries. During the 10-day course, they worked intensively together under the guidance of KNVB lecturers and are now able to make a positive impact both on and off the pitch. In addition, they can serve as co-tutors on future courses.

From 19 to 23 January, the first WorldCoaches course was organised in Oman. This pilot, part of the Shiraka programme, was co-sponsored by the Dutch embassy in Muscat. The course, led by KNVB instructor Bert Zuurman and regional instructor Ranya from Algeria, was visited by ambassador Stella Kloth. She spoke to the 23 coaches (15 men and eight women) about the importance of the course. At the same time, a WorldCoaches delegation was in Oman to meet local stakeholders and explore possibilities for a multi-year programme.
From 3 to 14 December 2024, we received 13 coaches from the Chinese Football Association (CFA). This visit was the result of the long-term cooperation between the Dutch and Chinese football associations. During the Coaches Tour, the Chinese guests enjoyed an intensive programme, including visits to PSV, AZ, and the KNVB, and attending various (youth) matches.
The KNVB welcomed 35 youth coaches from the United States from 24 to 27 January 2025. During their visit, they gained insight into the KNVB vision and the Dutch football landscape, visited Eredivisie matches and youth academies of FC Utrecht and PSV Eindhoven. The Coaches Tour was organised in cooperation with Premier International Tours and was led by KNVB lecturers Bert Zuurman and Raimond Massop.

On 13 January 2025, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) celebrated its 110th anniversary with an impressive gala at the FPF Arena in Lisbon. KNVB secretary general Gijs de Jong presented an official pennant and a small Johan Cruyff statue to FPF president Fernando Gomes on behalf of the Royal Dutch Football Federation.
A delegation from the Romanian Football Association visited the KNVB Campus in Zeist from 20 to 22 January. The visit started with an official dinner and was followed by a programme focusing on innovation, data and digital developments within the KNVB.
There has been a good relationship with our eastern neighbours for years. In the past three years, the KNVB worked closely with the German Football Association (DFB) on a bid for the FIFA Women's World Cup 2027. To mark the 125th anniversary of the DFB, a large KNVB delegation was present in Leipzig, where the anniversary was celebrated. Among those present were KNVB president and secretary general, as well as Just Spee (member of the UEFA Executive Committee) and David Pranger (head of corporate affairs KNVB).

Erick Thohir, president of the Indonesian Football Federation PSSI, paid an official visit to the KNVB on Monday 27 January. The president received a warm welcome at the KNVB Campus in Zeist. Besides an extensive tour, Thohir was given several presentations on the Dutch football landscape and the KNVB's commercial strategy.
Thohir's visit is a direct result of the closer ties between the KNVB and PSSI. In September 2024, the two football associations signed a four-year cooperation agreement, known as the Memorandum of Understanding. This cooperation aims to accelerate the initiated growth of Indonesian football, with a particular focus on coach training, talent development, mutual competitions and the further development of women's football.

On 24 January, the management of St. George's Park - home of the English Football Association (FA) - visited Papendal and the KNVB Campus. The visit focused on exchanging best practices with regard to setting up and maintaining top-level sports facilities. The exchange was enriching and gave a deeper insight into how innovation is seamlessly woven into the KNVB's day-to-day operations.
