Certificates were awarded on the 13th of February to eight Lebanese coaches who successfully completed the KNVB WorldCoaches educational programme in Lebanon. The ceremony at the Dutch Residence in Beirut marked the completion of an intensive learning journey. It served as a celebration of the graduated coaches’ commitment to using football as a tool for positive social change.
The certificates were officially presented by the Netherlands Deputy Ambassador to Lebanon, Marieke Wierda, who emphasised the value of sport in empowering young people and strengthening communities. During the ceremony, she stated:
"What makes this programme special is that it goes beyond football skills. Yes, you teach passing, teamwork, and discipline. But you also help young people build confidence, communication skills, leadership, and resilience — qualities that matter in life and in the job market."

The certificate ceremony not only marked the end of the educational programme, but also the start of a new chapter for the coaches involved. Equipped with new skills and knowledge, they will continue to use football to create safe, inclusive, and inspiring spaces for young people across Lebanon.
The project is part of the Shiraka programme, which has been running throughout the MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) since 2022. With Shiraka, which means partnership in Arabic, the KNVB, in cooperation with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aims to use football to improve the economic prospects and social participation of vulnerable young people between the ages of 10 and 35. In Lebanon, the programme is implemented together with the Dawaer Foundation.
Through these programmes KNVB WorldCoaches continues to demonstrate how football can contribute to stronger communities and greater opportunities for youth worldwide.
