Jeremie Frimpong on the importance of Dual Careers

Jeremie Frimpong is right in the middle of his career as a professional footballer. The Netherlands international plays for Liverpool, having previously played for Manchester City, Celtic and Bayer Leverkusen. With Leverkusen, he won both the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.

At the same time, Frimpong is looking beyond his own football career. He is the founder of Pathways, an initiative that helps young footballers explore opportunities beyond the game. The idea was partly inspired by Frimpong seeing players around him struggle to find their way after their football careers had ended. Pathways provides support including mentoring, work experience and career coaching, helping players apply the qualities they develop through football to another career beyond the game.

That vision closely aligns with Dual Careers. Even when performing as a professional footballer is the main focus, it is valuable to continue developing away from the pitch and to think about the future. As a Dual Careers ambassador, Frimpong wants to make young players aware of the importance of doing so. Sari van Veenendaal is the other Dutch ambassador of the Dual Careers program.
