The UEFA Women's Champions League Final (UWCLF) is not only a great football event. From UEFA, KNVB and other partners, it also the aim to leave a lasting "legacy" in girls' and women's football in the Brainport region.
This legacy is aimed at growing girls' and women's football together with the local grassroots clubs, UEFA, KNVB, PSV, the municipalities within the region and More2Win, we will realize this sportive goal: An increase in the number of registered active female trainers in the Brainport Eindhoven region by 55% to 175 trainers/coaches at the end of the 2023-2024 season.
'More women in football' is an important theme within the KNVB's strategic agenda for the next four seasons 2022 to 2026. Hosting the final in Eindhoven inspires us to discover new potential female trainers and to support and guide them in their personal development journey. Through various meetings and activities we will encourage clubs to recruit, guide and train more female trainers. Here for we will use the 'Welcome Program' of the KNVB in which new trainers will be introduced to their new role and support is given. In consultation with the female trainers we will work on their future prospects within football and the clubs and the image that it is common for women to hold these positions.
UEFA, KNVB, local grassroots clubs in the Brainport region, PSV and the final itself will all contribute to the realization of the above objectives. The grassroots football clubs in the Brainport region have an important role in recruiting female trainers, where KNVB, PSV and other stakeholders will inspire, inform and educate these women. Through this collaboration we also build a foundation for a sustainable result; associations can proceed on their own after this legacy program to involve more women in football and their association in the future.
