Today, the KNVB is unveiling its new strategy for the period 2026–2030. With a clear ambition, bold choices and confidence in the power of football, the association is setting a course that will unite and inspire the Netherlands and take football to the next level.
Football is the Netherlands’ largest social network. Every week, millions of people come together at 2,800 clubs, on the touchline, in stadiums and around Oranje. In a rapidly changing world, the KNVB aims to harness the power of football to connect people, further develop the sport and have a positive impact on society.
Under the vision ‘Our football colors the world Orange’, the KNVB is fully committed to seven strategic goals in the coming years. These range from winning major tournaments and creating the best youth football in the world to improving the quality of professional football, increasing the number of women making a difference in football, and strengthening the social significance of football.
The strategy is the result of an intensive process in which clubs, members, volunteers, supporters, players, interest groups, government, partners and staff have contributed their ideas on the future of Dutch football. This sets a joint course for the whole of Dutch football.
Together with clubs, players, volunteers, leagues, government and partners, we are building a stronger future for football in the Netherlands and beyond.
Gijs de Jong; "Football has the power to inspire, connect and unite. With our Strategy 2026–2030, we are making clear choices: developing the best youth football, strengthening women’s football, improving the quality of the professional game, winning on the biggest stages and creating positive social impact through football. Together with clubs, players, volunteers, leagues, government and partners, we are building a stronger future for football in the Netherlands and beyond. Our football colors the world Orange."
Marianne van Leeuwen, Managing Director of Professional Football, and Jan Dirk van der Zee, Managing Director of Amateur Football: "We are not opting for the status quo, but for ambition. Not for following, but for leading the way. The future of football calls for courage, connection and innovation. That is why we are investing in strong clubs, talent, young people, the quality of football and the unifying power of the game. Together, we are building a football that will remain relevant, successful and impactful for future generations."
With this strategy, the KNVB is setting the direction for the future of football in the Netherlands. As an organiser, driving force and connector, the association brings together clubs, leagues, volunteers, players, coaches, referees, supporters, partners, government and many other stakeholders from within and outside the world of football to realise these ambitions. Because we do not shape the future of football alone. We shape it together.
