Arjan Veurink will become the head coach of the Dutch Women’s National Team after the 2025 UEFA Women’s Championship. He will succeed Andries Jonker, who has held the position since 2022. Veurink has signed a contract running until the 2029 Euros and will lead the team for the first time during the October international matches later this year.

The 38-year-old town of Ommen native has an impressive track record in women’s football. From 2012 to 2016, Veurink was the head coach of FC Twente, during which time he won the Women’s BeNe League twice, claimed four national championships, and secured a KNVB Cup victory. From 2017 to 2021, he served as the assistant coach of the OranjeLeeuwinnen (Dutch Lionesses), with highlights including the European Championship title in 2017 and a second-place finish at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Following his tenure with the Dutch team, Veurink moved to England, where he served in the same role and helped the Lionesses win the European Championship on home soil in 2022 and achieve a runner-up finish at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Arjan Veurink: “This is not only an incredible challenge and an exciting new adventure, but it also feels like a logical next step in my career. I have never hidden my ambition to one day take on the lead role with the Dutch national team. After over eight years of experience at the highest level as Sarina Wiegman’s right-hand man, first with the Netherlands and now in England, I feel ready to stand on my own. The fact that this opportunity arises in the Netherlands makes it all the more special. For now, I will focus on concluding my time in England in style over the coming months, and after the Euros, I look forward to beginning this new chapter in Zeist.”

With Arjan Veurink, the KNVB aims to build on the solid foundation laid in recent years: “Arjan has a rich history in women’s football and has closely witnessed the developments in international women’s football over the past fifteen years. He understands the demands at the highest level and recognizes the importance of maintaining connections with the grassroots. We are pleased that he is taking on this challenge. I look forward to working with him and continuing to build on the success of the OranjeLeeuwinnen. Lastly, we would like to thank the English Football Association for their cooperation,” said Nigel de Jong, KNVB’s Director of Top Football.
