In January, the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) presented its first Social Impact Report of season 2023/'24. Today, we publish an English version to demonstrate to everyone the positive contributions of football in Dutch society. With almost 10 million football fans, who spend an average of 11.6 hours per week on football, the sport is ingrained in our DNA.

KNVB President Frank Paauw reflects on the KNVB's social impact as, "this report not only highlights our achievements but reinforces our determination to go even further. Because football has the power to unite, to inspire, and to make the world a better place."

Our Football Colors the World Orange

This report is an important milestone in our strategy for the years 2022 - 2026. Our sporting successes are of course a priority, however we increasingly see how football can serve as a vehicle for positive social change. National politics, corporations, and society also start to acknowledge this role. With this report we display our social impact and seek to further extend it.

Orange unites us. It is our color, our DNA, our symbol. We are the largest sports federation in The Netherlands, with over 1.2 million members. Every week, hundreds of thousands of volunteers and millions of fans enjoy the game. Football brings people together. Together with our partners, we create social impact. Our ambitions extend beyond The Netherlands. Football has the power to make a difference in creating a better world. Through our football, we color the world orange.

Health, sustainability, and inclusivity

The Social Impact Report focuses on three important themes: health, sustainability, and inclusivity. Initiatives such as 'Our Football is For Everyone', which counters discrimination, and the international 'WorldCoaches'-program which develops children's life skills and abilities, show how we use football for positive social change.
